Welcome to my world!

Hi mothers, fathers, teachers, sisters, friends, and all who want to communicate about important issues involving our families and life in general. I'm an older mom in my 40's who had twin boys one year ago. I was previously married for 16 years to a good man, but we changed, had 5 beautiful intelligent children together, and divorced 11 years back. I remarried a younger man who loves children and wanted to be a father more than anything (to his own children, as he loves my children dearly, but they're not his own, and their dad is very involved in their life). In my younger years, I was extremely fertile, obviously having 5 children in 10 years, but when my new husband and I experienced fertility issues, we had to turn to fertility treatments and finally had our two amazing, wonderful boys last year in March.

Last year I gave birth to my adorable twin sons AND became a grandmother, as my oldest son and his wife had a beautiful baby girl. 2008 was a GREAT year for me. :) In this blog I'd like to discuss motherhood and all that we encompass as women in this complex world. Now, I'm a mature mother of twin boys and a mother of older children ranging from 26 years to 16 years old. My youngest daughter has severe brain damage and cerebral palsy, caused from Spinal Meningitis at 10 days old. She's tiny, only 35 lbs, is cortically blind, doesn't walk or talk, but she laughs, cries, eats through bottles, and lights up our life with her beautiful smile.

These are my 'little men,' I love them to bits, they are so different, yet so much alike. To date, my life has been full of many learning and growing experiences with my five amazing children from my previous marriage, including my disabled daughter, and now with my two one year old sons. I have the great honor of being an at-home Mom again and I absolutely love being home raising my boys. My children and life experiences have formed me into the woman I am today.

I have a teaching degree in Elementary Education, Special Education and a masters degree in Counseling. I'm an educated professional, but I'm choosing to be home with my twins during their impressionable and most precious developmentally critical years before kindergarten. I hope that we can share, laugh, smile, cry and learn from each other as I share my life with you. Thanks for reading! :)
